That's a brutal accident, but it shows that EK crews certainly are able to do their #1 duty (which is the safety of pax, not serving them) perfectly fine. And honestly it made me re-thinking a bit my opinion about the not-evacuation happening in SIN on that SQ flight that returned there after flying a few hours. I guess any fire anywhere on the plane indeed does mean immediate evacuation, taking some injuries over even the slight chance the fire will spread like here..

Regarding losing your passport, well, I'm fairly sure that EK (as a state airline) and the Emirate of Dubai will do their best to keep any problems from pax that were on this flight and lost their passports. They want to minimize any bad press for sure.
