Methinks OP or family may have been projecting just a bit on to the FA. We have only part of the story here. Also, I don't see where the FA made a snide comment?

Maybe the FA was trying to provide personal service and ensure they interacted with each passenger? And OP noted the younger brother is high functioning. So why/how did the FA know the child was "disabled" as the OP noted in their post title?
