If you are on company dime, try both places mentioned early. Not bad stuff, just average, a tad pricey. IMHO.
There's a place tucked away just around the corner from Hilton Garden Inn that was really good when I stumbled across there. Wish I remember the name, but this was a year ago.
9/6 Update: Place's called Ginza, awesome place if you want to try authentic Japanese food w/o the new-age glitz, etc. Price is on par w/ other downtown sushi place, however, quality is far superior. My gf sure enjoyed their rice balls, brought her hometown memories (she's japanese).
I've recently moved to Chicago, and am just starting to try out different places, last few weekends, I've tried
1. Kamehachi on Wells. (Tad touristy and pricey, but understandable for its location)
2. Sushi Wabi (Arrived around 11:30PM on Sat, sushi was sub-par, service was good, music was cool, crowd is young/hip/seen-to-be-seen type).
3. Oysy - An izagaya place or Tapas, sushi style (I like the food a lot, so did my gf, great decor, service was good).
I would go back to Oysy again, Kamehachi is a maybe, Sush Wabi is a definitely no no for food (drinking is a very likely reason I'll end up back there again).
