Fish Keg - border of Evanston & Chicago

The Fish Keg at 2233 W Howard St in Chicago has been around for a long time, a friend of mine remembers his pop taking him here during the 60’s. I had not been to the “Keg” in awhile as I don’t think they do fried seafood (fish, shrimp, oysters etc) well, but I had some French bread at home and decided to give the Keg a try and make my own po’ boy sandwiches. I tried the shrimp and oysters. Both had excess breading, were cooked too long and I don’t think that the Keg changes their frying oil frequently enough as the flavor was not good.

I know it is a landmark, has been around for ever, but I can not recommend the Fish Keg. If you want GREAT fried shrimp (I’m not kidding this stuff is nirvana, you have never had shrimp this good) you simply must visit Goose Island see:
