HH has 3 ways to stay diamond, stays, nights and spend. Currently only nights and 10 years at diamond level count.
So people that qualify on stays need to do 33 years of that and spend maybe 100k.
But if I stay at 1000 dollar a night suites, spend 12k a year, I spend 120k in 10 years but it might take me 60+ years to reach lifetime. Does that make sense?

Yes. Because when people stay in hotels so often they reach Diamond, they're not just spending money on a hotel room. They're buying meals, drinks, room service, parking, reserving meeting rooms and other add-ons.
And I think your math is exaggerated...using your $100k example, that would equal about a $100 room rate...much too low. And $1,000 for a suite is generally much too high. Those lifetime diamonds are spending a lot more than $100,000 to reach that level.
