My main question is, will missing the connecting flight affect my inbound itinerary? or will it remain unaffected?

I've tried calling air France customer service a few times with no answer.
The remainder of your itinerary will be canceled. If Air France is aware of what you're doing, they may also reprice your ticket and charge you for the one-way Vancouver to Paris leg.

(Search "hidden city ticketing." It's frequently discussed on Flyertalk and elsewhere.)

ETA: I believe you reclaim your checked baggage in Paris before clearing immigration and customs, so the luggage aspect isn't an issue. But it doesn't negate the fact that you will lose the remainder of flights on your ticket.
