when i canceled my united MP explorer card, i asked about upgrading to united club with the no-annual-fee offer for which i was targeted in my united account. rep said any special offer requires a new application, so no. i didn't try hanging up and calling again, but if that rep was right, it would suggest that product changes aren't eligible for the bonus.
