For what they paid, it's not terribly reasonable to expect more. But that's not the message they get from AC. If it were Ryanair, they would not complain. Because there would be no expectation.

The flaw in the assumption here is that the Tango fare is low. It may be the lowest of AC's offered fares, but that doesn't make it low relative to what other carriers charge/offer.
If AC charged FR fares, it would not be reasonable for them to expect more.than FR service. It doesn't. It charges multiples of those fares. The gripe for most is that the relatively higher airfare doesn't necessarily mean better service.
A lot of people have pointed at expectations management? How should AC do that? By pointing out that you should expect FR service at higher prices than FR? They can't offer cheap products at cheap prices because they aren't efficient enough to produce even UA levels of cheap, let alone FR.
It's a no win situation.
