Just a heads up to all travellers hiring a car in Italy with Avis.

I returned from Italy in June and have just been hit with a £337.35 charge for 'optional extras' I didn't even know I was signing for and didn't ask for!

I had booked the the car online and pre-paid for it back in February, only to be hit with extra charges in June after I returned the car.

I know that I should have read the agreement better, but having hired cars with Avis in France, Canada, Spain and the USA and never having any issues I stupidly assumed that what I had booked in Feb was what I would be getting. Lesson learned there.

I always thought Avis to be a trust worthy company, but now I'm not so sure.

So travellers just beware and go over the agreement with a fine tooth comb!
