We stayed in the Pool Access Suite, which is the category just below their villa's, but not low end. Space in the rooms and lack of privacy on your terrace were the key factors for my verdict.
If I would go again that direction, I'd probably go for the Hua Hin option (Pranburi), despite their lack of beach
I wouldn't have chosen a pool access suite, I agree the design isn't great. However that is the typical plat upgrade from a base room. This is a place where spending a little more on the room really pays dividends.
