Steak
Steak. Always a Flyertalker favorite. As a card carrying roadwarrior, I have been to just about every steakhouse of note in the world.
None compares with Peter Luger's.
This legendary restaurant has been around for over 100 years and is hard to get into even on the slowest of nights for any other restaurant. The reputation for the most extra ordinary steaks is well earned, and certainly worth the trip to Brooklyn.
Don't ask for a menu, you'll only insult the waiter. Of course you're there to have steak, why else would you be there? They serve one cut - Porterhouse. Also, you'll insult them if you ask for it cooked any more than medium. You won't be able to taste as much if you have it well done. They do have fish and chicken for your vegetarian friends, but it's best to leave them home.
Their outstanding side dishes include creamed spinach, hash browned potatoes, Onions and Beefsteak (whatelse) Tomatoes, and shrimp cocktail.
No food is small at Luger's. You'll have plenty for the table and you'll probably make best friends with your dog when you come home. They have their own steak sauce, bu the flavor of the meat is so pure and delicious, why bother.
The best pick for desert is the apple strudell mit schlage (whipped cream). Amazing.
Peter Luger's ranks as my favorite restaurant in the world. This is because of it's consistancy and because I looove steak.
Another little quirk about the restaurant: they only take cash and their own credit card.
