Sorry to hear this, snuffi!

Ortho is not my specialty but I have seen my fair share of broken bits of hands and wrists in my time! Everything really depends on which bone in your hand is broken! If you have a cast at the moment then it suggests that it was on the nastier end of the spectrum.

Just make sure you tell them the deal on Friday, they should be able to print a copy of your A&E/#clinic discharge summary that you can send to anyone that needs it, and fingers crossed (maybe not literally in your case ) that you don't need anything else done. But take the advice: you don't want to be suffering with scaphoid necrosis months/years down the line because you pushed them to let you see the birds instead of having surgery.

I think you will find the insurance company willing to insure you if your docs are happy for you to fly, although there may be a small premium increase. Of all the casts to try and go flying with (and to be sure you wouldn't want any) hand/wrist is probably the easiest.
