Make sure you tell the staff who are applying the cast that you will need to fly, in case they need to apply it differently to accommodate this.

Additionally I concur with the comments that usually a cast has to be on for 48 hours before you can fly. Ensure, in any case, that you have a doctor's note confirming that you are fit to fly and from what date and with any additional restrictions (elevation of body parts, etc).
