Chinatown: Eat, Drink and Speak Cantonese

Comfort food in any language: the soup at Yummy Noodles....

...One of my favorite hangouts is XO Kitchen - there are two of them, one on Walker Street, the other on Hester - where you walk in the door and find yourself transported to a side street in the teenage shopping district in Mongkok, Kowloon, amid slouchy, thin young men with their hair spiky and blond-streaked, extras from a Cantonese pop-music video. The sound system plays the latest velvety hit from the Hong Kong diva of the moment, Sammi Cheng Sau-Man, and the waitresses serve Chinatown's best version of the Hong Kong classic: ngaih cha, or milk tea (Lipton black tea with lots of hot milk and sugar syrup)...
