As msm2000uk indicated, QR seems to take great pleasure in changing the rules at random intervals. To annoy their customers even more, these changes are usually not coordinated with a change to the information on their own website or the Oneworld site.

So, it doesn't surprise me that showing them the rules from whatever 'official' website made no difference. The QR lounge guardians will just follow whatever instruction they have been given that day/week/month.
