Manna Korean BBQ - Rosemead (San Gabriel Valley, CA)

OK, Sweet Willie posts about Koreatown had me hungry for some good Korean BBQ, so I took one of may favorite dining partners (and fellow expatriated Hawaiian) to Manna, which is on the corner of San Gabriel Blvd. and Potrero Grande in Rosemead, CA. For points of reference, this is in between the I-10 and S-60 freeways, about 10 miles south of Pasadena. The nearest large hotels are the Doubletree Rosemead and HGI Montebello.

OK, I go here for lunch and dinner a lot as it is very close to my office, much closer to Koreatown, and a lot cheaper than the places I frequent there.

For dinner, we chose the preset combination for two, which consisted of a large platter of marinated meats - kal bi beef short ribs, bu go gi beef, boneless pork, chicken, shrimp, and squid. All of this is cooked on the grill tableside.

Also served were the small side dishes, including nappa kim chi, cucumber kim chi, steamed potato, bean sprouts, watercress, and other dishes. A clear soup, steamed rice, and barley tea finished off the dinner.

All of the meat was tender and well-flavored. Portions are more than generous. Service was prompt and attentive.

Final tab - $38 for two, plus tip.
