Just came back fro SD fro the 4th and stayed at the Manchester Hyatt. Great downtown location near the Midway air craft carrier Museum, a short ferry ride to Coronado Island. Lots of nearby shopping and restaurants at the seaside village. Room was clean and quiet. At the family pool there were free cabanas for the day, but not much other shade. There is no beach at the Manchester but you can go to Coronado Island for the beach. We split the vacation at 2 hotels. Maybe something to think about. Lajolla has awesome shops and restaurants but the Hyatt is closer to the university about a 10 minute drive.
