I actually tried to redeem UA domestic tickets using TK Miles, the problem is that for Y fare the tax is actually higher than UA's fare (which is unbelievable). I did this through their HKG office but then I decided not to do it because it's insane.

For me, this is just a way for TK to get some $ out of issuing us an award ticket, for me tax=fuel surcharge.
