My question is whether she can also stand by on the YOW-YYZ-BOS flights, and what is the mechanism for this.
If she wants to leave a day earlier, it's change fee plus fare difference. If she wants to fly a day earlier and change routing, it's change fee and fare difference. Standby is not relevant in either case.
