DC area Goodwill stores have FD130 terminals facing the customer. They allow you to key the amount yourself, but I doubt you'd get away with charging a penny to begin with as they take their copy of the charge slip and staple it to the merchant POS receipt.
Interesting setup. I don't get why they just wouldn't use a PIN pad in this case.
