Returned new Costco Kirkland 21.5" carry-on because it didn't fit AA and DL sizers

3 weeks ago, I placed an order on Costco.com for this 21.5" carry-on.
(partly due to all the reviews that I've read here and on Costco website)
http://www.costco.com/Kirkland-Signa....11760915.html

It arrived in 9 days. 3 days later, I took it with my on a trip that involved 4 AA
flights(mainline A320 and Eagle RJ200) and 3 Delta mainline flights(all 757s)

On 2 AA flights and 1 DL flight, the GA rejected the carry-on because it wouldn't
fit completely into the sizer by the gate counter. It was no more than 80% full
with just my clothes. No amount of pushing and shoving worked. At best, only
3/4 of the carry-on went in. The 2 AA agents at ORD and DFW were nice enough
to let me get away with gate-checking it. At MSP, the DL agent forced me to pay
to have it checked.(in her defense, she had no choice, because she made every-
body on the 100% full flight take their carry-on into the sizer)

During my stop in LA, I returned the carry-on to the Costco just south of LAX.
Didn't realize that the Costco warehouse return counter can only issue CASH
for items ordered from Costco.com. I received a cash refund. A guy next to
me got a CASH refund of almost $3000 for a laptop that he ordered from the
website(which arrived with a bad screen). Holy cow... isn't that a recipe for
manufactured spending?

Ended up buying a 20" random $40 carry-on from a luggage shop at South Coast
Mall. On all 3 of my flights home, zero problems.

Does anyone use the Kirkland 21.5" carry-on? If so, have you every experienced
problems with fitting it into the airline carry-on sizers?
