However you could create a household account, buy Avios for the others in your account and then spend from the pool.
You could purchase the 35k and get gifted the other 15k from a mate who has earned their Avios. Paying them for the gift would be against the rules but who is there to know?
But I think the household account mentioned above is the best way.
