Really, in 'Europe'?
One would 1) have to find a store that accepts FB AMEX (the only viable airline credit card here, credits points to FlyingBlue at a quite terrible rate) (the biggest challenge since NO ONE accepts AMEX here...) 2) return the item and just ask for cash, saying that returning the amount to the AMEX will be too difficult.
For the sake of credibility, you need to define here. Depending on your mood, it seems to be that great big country (er ...) called Europe. OTOH, it seems you're talking about the Netherlands, since you erroneously refer to FB AmEx as 'the only viable airline credit card here'.

There are of course numerous airline credit cards in Europe. Just looking at the UK, there are credit cards offering miles from BA, Virgin, American, United, M&M (Lufthansa etc), Emirates, Etihad, Flybe and probably more. Most of these give much better returns than the FB AmEx and most of them are free. There are also points earning cards for Hilton, IHG, Starwood and probably more.

Other European countries also have local cards for several airlines.

You could look at the Manufacturing Spend UK thread for inspiration or just accept that MS is largely a US concept.
