SJC is generally quite pleasant, though gates can be kind of a crapshoot. I've been lucky and had most flights go out of Gates 26/27/28, which are right next to the Terminal B security checkpoint. However, when I was there last I had an SJC-SAN go out of Gate 14, which is much, much closer to Terminal A's checkpoint than Terminal B.

Fortunately, I didn't have to check a bag so I could go directly to the Terminal A Security Checkpoint, but I think something has to be done with the gate configurations there so that things make a little more sense. Check the app for gate assignments to see which entrance is most convenient.

I was once told that SJC had intended to install moving walkways throughout Terminal B, but these were scrapped due to cost.
