The Alaska gates are a 3 minute walk from the curb, tops. The gate is right by the exit to the terminal, you go down the escalator, and you're at the curb. I love it.
Unless you're shunted to gate 15-19.
Two things to know about SJC: I'm convinced the airport authority has been paid a handsome sum of money from Clear to reorganize the security line (again!). This time
everyone is shunted to one massive line before being split off to PreCheck/F/Everyone else farther down the checkpoint. It splits about where the glass wall is, past the Clear kiosks.
If you have PreCheck and it's busy, you will be stuck waiting in line for a while. I waited 10 minutes the other day, so I could walk by a TSA dog (that wasn't even there). If you have Clear, the line follows the old path, right to the TSA.
SJC's busiest time is 6a-8a on weekdays. Sundays aren't too bad, and weeknights aren't usually outrageously busy.
Using terminal A to clear security during the busy time seems to be a little better. If you're at gate 15-19, it's really a wash time wise between A or B to get to the gate.
