This is where UA really could have done better. UA uses data mining for everything under the sun to sell you more ancillary services, but in an instance whereby they make a major change to a service involving minors, they could not figure out how to send a notification to their MP members that an important change has been made to the UM rules?

Even without simply notifying all MP members they could note that the ticket is for a minor and that minor hasn't flown since the rule change and send a special e-mail.
