Have Premier, I recently signed up for Avis Preferred, and then got MC to upgrade status. My Preferred Plus card came earlier than the Preferred card

I recently signed up for Sixt elite status. I was told that ALL World Elite Master Card holders are eligible for the elite status. They did tell me that its only for one year and therefore I should only sign up when I think I will use it most.
