What does this mean? I have my first flight pass which I used last week, but maybe I didn't optimize something? How does booking separate one-ways help?

Also maybe related to this topic - when I click "View Flight Credit Value Statement", I see $309 + $15.45 (tax) = $324.45. Yet the AQD I was given was nowhere near that. Should it be?
