usually a cancel and rebook with no guarantee that the seats will drop back into the redemption bucket.

Ive had mixed results with this on club seats - 2 booking the seats drop back in and were available for a rebooking, 2 others (possibly more popular routes) didnt so i cancelled the whole trip.
