I used to rent in Bali but not anymore. Economic prosperity has increased the number of cars and motorcycles on the roads but road sizes have not increased. You'll be constantly passing slower traffic and watching for oncoming cars doing the same. I loved driving there - being able to set my own schedule, map my routes, and detour to explore unexpected sights. With traffic as chaotic as it is now, I'd spend most of my time watching taillights instead of the scenery.
