I think they are probably looking at the IHG Rewards Club only as that is the IHG's loyalty program. Lifetime Platinum or Spire status.
No other hotel chain has an equivalent program to IHG Ambassador.
So comparing RA to any other hotel chain's lifetime elite status is like comparing apples to bananas.
IMHO. the only ones who should be surveyed for Lifetime RA status are RAs and Ambassador members.

i don't disagree, it's in relation to the IHG Loyalty Program, but importantly, it's a step in the right direction.
where the Ambassador program is like the other hotels, is the structure, and benefits with the single exception of the initial fee hurdle, as you mentioned. Frankly Spire and Platinum don't really compare to the other hotel programs if considering their better brands. For eg Plat or Spire doesn't do much at an IC. Diamond and Platinum with the other hotel groups actually does at their equivalent properties, much more inline with Ambassador, and Royal, with some exception for the latter, being the mini bar.
i think this is positive news, in the sense that it may well be indicative of a precursor to researching, and evaluating for the Ambassador program.
MXM135, don't disagree, i'm expecting our next survey will include similar questions
