If you're planning to fly immediately before Christmas, chances are that most flights are fully booked anyway, so the question is probably moot. If you miss your flight, it doesn't matter whether they are willing to rebook you - or if you're willing to buy a new ticket - because the next flight has already been fully booked for weeks.
