my original question remain the same. and now that we are on this topic, i dont see a way one can game the rules based on the knowledge today. before accusing, i suggest you read the entire thread to follow the discussion. my second question was asked based on what a previous poster scottrick was saying (he flew without his companion in one of his previous flight, and will have some other future flights where he will be flying alone as well). to me, it's a 'wasted' use of companion benefits but i understand plans can change. in that case, i would think you would try to get a refund on the companion portion so that you only end up paying for 1 person's fare for that 1 person to fly. but of course, it could be possible that it's between 2 friends, so the friend who skipped out just have to forfeit his $ with the remaining traveler still benefiting.
