No upgrade available for Diamond member. Received King room on top floor - under sloping roof, with small windows. Room was clean, large enough (large bathroom) but nothing special.

Was told that free Diamond breakfast was eliminated "a couple of weeks ago". Regular price is GBP20/person - was offered discount of GBP12/person. After returning to Reception for a 2nd discussion re upgrade and breakfast, was given coupons for free breakfasts by receptionist who felt sorry for us (Supervisor did not seem happy about this). Your luck with this may well vary.

Employees were generally professional and helpful. Building was interesting. Location was (just) OK for walking to Castle & Museum of Scotland. Good restaurants nearby. Taxis available outside hotel (also used Uber - generally cheaper).

Overall not sure if it was worth the additional points compared with DoubleTree etc.
I guess this is down to the UK Hilton elimination of non brand standard benefits that is discussed on this thread:-

I would guess that this will put the Waldorf at a disadvantage to the Doubletree that can offer breakfast and the Carlton that can offer breakfast and lounge access.
