Barra is much safer, the water and beach are much cleaner, than Ipanema/Copacabana. It's farther from the tourist stuff, but if you want a quiet, safe, clean beach in Rio, Barra is great. I'm excited to stay here. Isn't there a new subway line opening in Barra soon?
