I really wouldn't recommend adding connections for short euro hops, and I'd be surprised if OP's employer encouraged it. Direct flights are the way to go.

BA is therefore the obvious choice loyalty-wise. Just one trip back home in J, if planned correctly, will be enough to get Silver. That would make the shorthaul experience much better.

The other option is not to bother with loyalty and just book whatever's best for each trip.
