I only expect more of the same as BA continue to outsource in-house IT ops and re-contract existing out-sourced IT ops to the lowest bidder. I'm not saying they won't succeed in the end and wish them the best of luck, but I do not expect it to go well in the short to medium term.

There's a few case studies from banks that have gone through exactly the same process over the past decade that suffered some immense IT disasters making the national press and bringing terrible PR onto the affected institutions. But years later we don't hear anything so can only assume they sorted it out. Whether they got their new IT contracts to work out, or took a different approach, I'm not sure. But they certainly went through a great deal of pain working through the change.
