Bangkok - Brussels on Austrian in C

Unfortunately, I did not yet have a boarding pass for the flight to Vienna and had to visit the transfer desk in Bangkok to obtain my boarding pass.

As we arrived in Bangkok about 4 hours before the next flight, the Austrian transfer desk was not opened yet, so I spent about an hour wandering around the area of the transfer desk, waiting for it to open. Other Star alliance desks next to it (Thai, Singapore,…) could not issue a boarding pass.

Once I had my boarding pass, the rest of the family was also back airside and as they were flying economy I did not visit any lounge in Bangkok, but had some cocktails with the family in one of the numerous bars in the airport in order to spent our last thai bahts.

Boarding started on time and I was one of the first on board. This time I had one of the throne seats in the second, smaller, business class cabin. Business Class was not full this evening and in my cabin about 4 seats were left empty although one lady from economy got upgraded when boarding had finished.

The disadvantage of the second business class cabin is that everyone in economy has to pass through it when boarding. Apparently a lot of Belgian and Dutch people were on the flight (who’s language I understand) and it was sometimes a bit awkward to hear them being very envious (telling their children this is where the braggarts and posers sit).

During boarding Prosecco was offered, as well as reading materials. The onboard chef came around to take orders for the main course and the breakfast.

Departure was on time, but at take off there was a bit of a thunder storm, so lightning around the plane (scary looking).

During boarding and after take off, the purser came around the business class cabin to welcome every-one on board, however she was more fluent than the purser on the inbound flight, having a chat with every passenger, instead of reading the same sentence to every passenger.

Almost immediately after take off, dinner service started which commenced with a drink service and some nuts.

As a starter I went for the Chicken and tomato dish which was very taste and as on the inboard flight I also took the soup which was tomato soup with bread crumbs.

As a main, I took the steak, which was a bit fatty, but still OK.

I did however notice that the crew on this flight was less proactive than the crew on the previous flight as I had to request some drink refills or change of drink a couple of times, which was always noticed by the crew on the previous flight. Or maybe it was due to being in the second cabin where the crew didn’t have to pass through as much.

I ended with a Chocolate mousse tart, some apple strudel and the cheese again with some sweet white wine.

After dinner I had a couple of mint teas, before putting the seat in bed mode and trying to get some sleep. Sleeping however was difficult as the cabin was quite hot. So I decided to watch Kingsmen before landing and during breakfast.

For breakfast I had the omelet, which again proved that it is very difficult to make an omelet on a plane.

Landing in Vienna was on time and I was quickly through immigration and on my way to the Austrian Shengen lounge.

The lounge was bigger than the non-shengen one I went to on my way to Thailand, so it was easy to find a seat and have a couple of croissants and some orange juice before going to the gate for my flight to Brussels.

The flight to Brussels left about 10 minutes late, but landed on time.

Meal service was a toasted sandwich (croquet monsieur) which I found a bit strange as a breakfast. It being my third breakfast of the day (plane and lounge before), I wasn’t very hungry but took it anyway and it proved to be quite tasty.

Landing in Brussels was on time and my luggage was one of the first on the belt, so I was quickly reunited with the rest of the family who landed an hour before me, before making the drive home.
