The speed of an EMV Contactless transaction is remarkable and when you have one of these transactions, you know it.
And unless Staples changed something in the past 3 days in the US, they are certainly not using EMV Mode contactless. I had to purchase some supplies at a US Staples the other day and had to use one of my Canadian VISA cards and decided to use Apple Pay (which does not support MSD Mode) and the transaction failed (could not complete payment message on the iPhone).
