Sorry to just put this question so bluntly out there, but can anyone tell me how I should think about the Le Meridien brand? Every one that I've stayed in, in the last 3 years, I feel is some kind of halfway brand between Sheraton and Westin. As in, not quite as comfortable / high end as a Westin, and not as affordable and predictable as a Sheraton. Also, LM seems to have odd quirks about the hotel room configurations, and there is something just a little bit odd about the check-in, check-out process. Is this a legacy European brand that lingers in the portfolio for some reason? I think the bottom line / main point in my mind is that based on my experience, I have never felt that I would say, go stay at Le Meridien [xyz], it was a great choice! What is Le Meridien for?
LeMeridien was created in the 70s as the hotel division of Air France. Most locations were in traditional AF markets, although one example of a US property was LeMeridien San Francisco, opened in 1984 (the hotel that is now called the Park Central). The brand did not come into Starwood until about 2005.
