Flying CA in a week from GMP-PEK-MEL, with a 14 hour layover in PEK (arrive 1035AM, depart for MEL 1:05AM). Planning on taking advantage of TWOV to meet up with a former student and see some of the sights during the layover. In reading the rules, this seems like a legitimate use of the TWOV program.
My question pertains to checked baggage, and may be better off being posted in another forum (mods--let me know/move at your leisure). Will it be possible to check luggage through to MEL or will I need to claim bags, go through customs, and bring luggage with me? Air China's website has very little info about TWOV and through checking.
