If you're trying to get a seat assignment on Thai, UA won't help.

More info. may help provide better options. But do you have the Thai confirmation. Is this a codeshare (I.e. UA XXXX operated by Thai) or booked as the Thai flight number. Any other carriers in the same itinerary (as apparently, if you have a segment on another carrier that also uses Amadeus, like LH, you can use their website to get seat assignments). Have you tried the TG site itself?

I think Thai might have closed their US office in L.A. - not 100% sure, but they took care of things really quickly for me when I called them. Best option now may be to use Skype to call the office in Thailand, or really, any other country TG office.
