Greetings and two points to make.

First, does anyone have any idea about the difference between Australian and New Zealand airport taxes and fees? I ask because I am on a one world rtw ticket at the moment. I called the GGL to change two flights from SYD to AKL and back in J to two flights from SYD to OOL (Gold Coast) and back, also in J. In addition to the $125 per person change fee (which is fine), I was told when that the ticketing department recalculated taxes etc the extra cost was £299 per person. That seems an amazingly high difference for one takeoff and landing in Australia substituting for one takeoff and landing in NZ. I wondered if the amazingly knowledgeable people here had any experience of this. I find from the web that Oz has high APD equivalents, but not that high, surely?

Secondly a minor rant. The GGL operative, unlike all the others I speak to, could not have been less helpful when I queried the enormous tax increase. He simply hid behind the fares department. I asked him for a breakdown of the difference. He said that he could not provide one and was disinclined to ask the fares department for one. I then asked him to instruct the fares department to provide one and as part of that to make sure they issued a ticket receipt which included a breakdown of fares versus fees and taxes. I authorised the charge under protest because I need to have the reservations.

I did get a receipt but it simply recorded the additional charge as "additional fare", which doesn't help.

So does anyone have an idea for how I can verify this (I am not saying it is wrong - it is just so high that I think I should verify it)?

And I shall write a polite email to the GGL people....
