@xrayflyer I appreciate the warning. Frankly I think UA should have been lenient with you -- if you paid the oversize fee, waive the overweight fee for 1.5lbs. They didn't have to be, and they weren't, but that seems like a somewhat unfriendly move to make.

I cart all kinds of stuff around the country and am constantly watching the bag fees. I frequently fly UA because of the bag fee waivers via my UA Club Card (2 free bags) -- in fact, if they didn't offer that card I prob wouldn't fly the airline nearly as much.
You do get that they will still slap you with fees if your bags are oversized and overweight regardless of the waiver. Your waiver is only good within in the size and weight limit and that includes people flying in business class.
