Our bags were sent to Toronto with Delta from JFK while we flew LGA-YYZ after being re-routed due to flight cancellations on the 1st and 2nd of July.

We filed the claim with Air Canada, and eventually our bags were given to FedEx to deliver - sadly FedEx took so long to get them from Toronto to Buffalo (they had to go via Memphis) that we'd left the hotel they had the address for. Unfortunately Air Canada only gave us the tracking number AFTER the attempted delivery, even though FedEx had had the bag for a couple of days.

Anyway, FedEx's tracking site says the bags were returned to the sender, but Air Canada's baggage helpline have no trace of them in their system and they can't (or won't) contact the baggage office at YYZ to check if they are there.

The bags have been lost for well over a week - we are claiming for the stuff we had to buy, and can claim for what was in the bags when it's officially missing, but we were SO close to getting them back we're getting rather frustrated. Not to mention we live in the UK so are having to use Skype every time we call anyone.

I tried Twitter and got a canned "we're doing all we can" response, but I'll try again.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? Is there a number for Air Canada at YYZ, even if it's not the baggage office, so we don't have to keep calling the useless call centre?

I did feel bad for AC initially, given the bags actually traveled with Delta but I'm afraid my goodwill has worn off!
