I will be flying full fare economy for these flights. I'd like to use the points for upgrades, but I'd be happy with anything really. At that level, I suspect you'll be best off crediting to UA.
LH M+M are really only good for redemption on LH premium cabin or on UA, and if you're going to redeem on UA, you're better off using UA miles.
You might consider getting one of the Chase UA cards (Explorer) for the sign-up bonus, free checked bag, and priority boarding.
