Jal just made a schedule change to JL2 (SFO-HND). Used to depart 12:45AM / arrive 5:00 AM +1day. Now it departs 2:55PM / arrive 7:20PM +1day.
I will now miss my connection which leaves at 8:35AM. There aren't any other connections available after the new scheduled arrival time.
This was an award first class ticket booked thru AA. Suggestions or any one with experience dealing with this? Will I have to find my own overnight accommodation and change the connecting flight? Will AA waive fees to cancel the award and redeposit if this doesn't ultimately work for me schedule wise?
I posted same thing on JAL Forum, but… First, SFO-HND is JL 1 and HND-SFO is JL 2.
If your connection is overnight connection at HND with no airport change to NRT, then one option is that HND International Terminal is open 24 hrs. Upon arrival at HND by JL 1 at 7:20 p.m. head to transit area and come out on departure gate area. You can stay at departure gate area overnight and catch your connection flight departing HND next morning. Several fast food places at departure gate food court are open 24 hrs. Also, if you are willing to spend some money then there are transit hotel at departure gate area so you can have some good night sleep.
