No change, but just because the dedicated entrance isn't staffed at certain hours doesn't mean you can't use the left lane once inside the security hall. Just show your card to the TSA greeter at the main cattle chute, and they'll allow you to stroll into the Nexus line.
Your point about the 'blend at the end' is valid though; YVR needs to rectify this.
