Just to follow up, I was able to get the exact segment by segment flight I wanted using Amex personal travel site. Fee was waived because I have a Plat Card, so the (I think $40) fee for non-cardholders might be prohibitive, but I was able to get flight combos that I couldn't get to price out anywhere else and even got a "your price has changed" message and it had gone down $100 from the original quote.
