Now I concede that rates fluctuate but based on this (and this is consistent with what I have seen thus far) Andaz and W are much more comparable in terms of rate than the Chatwall is.
Your point saying that Andaz's are typically 5 star while W/Westin's are 4 star is moot, as a consumer if the rate was the same, wouldn't you pay for a 5 star hotel rather than a 4 star hotel (all things being equal or close to equal).
Rates at St. Regis and Park Hyatt are in the 850-900 range and again since I haven't stayed there I can't opine.
Just to be clear: I really appreciate your post and comparison. As an SPG Plat I do have Hyatt in the back of my head if things at SPG would not go well in the next years

The rate you quote for Chatwall seems to be higher than usual but last time I checked NYC rates is already some time ago.
And you are absolutely right; if I would have to choose between W and Andaz when paying the same rate, I would go for Andaz. But IIRC Chatwall has similar rates as Andaz and in that case I would choose Chatwall over Andaz.
Just wanted to point out that you were leaving a few properties out and in the end your list of Hyatt is much longer than SPG's
